Film Industry including Mainstreams & Independent

Mainstream and Independent films have the same regulation of BBFC which stands for The British Board of Film Classification which is also a non governmental organisation, founded by the film industry in 1912. Looking at vertical gratification, it shows how the company maximises their income and how they own all the stages in which they need to market.

It can be said that Black Panther is a mainstream film, so in other words a high budget film which is also shown through its trailer. Its brought to the attention that their has been huge costs on their set design and costumes as various scenes were filmed abroad as the picture shows. It can be clear that this is a mainstream film by how the characters are clearly defined, showing a clear distinction between the hero and the villain. Stereotypes can be used to portray this, which allows the audience to gain quick knowledge and understanding of who the characters are and their roles that they are playing. Similarly with many other mainstream films, Black Panther has a simple narrative structure in order to attract the highest target audience. It  an also be linked to the genre of action as shown through marketing as fast moving scenes are shown within the trailer, enabling the trailer to be more visually appealing and engaging with the audience which can fulfil their focus of selling the film. The genre can be said that it's popular with many target audiences and guarantees the idea that it's more marketable. Although, through other films created by Marvel, this has created them a huge fan base and a large number of target audiences. However, having famous actors/actresses staring in a mainstream film is usually unlikely. Ryan Cooler, is not a typical mainstream director, he is known for breaking the rules of mainstream. Lastly various locations were portrayed through the trailer, indicating that it's a night budget film as it includes editing skills like CGI.

In addition the opposite to a mainstream film is an independent film such as Lady Bird which consists of actors whom are not that well known and famous. The characters have a more realistic and more complexed background. In other words a narrative but still involves realistic themes involving it's concept of a low budget film being recognised less in cinemas. Independent films are slightly different in ways which the director has a limited amount of input into the film. The film was greatly influenced by Greta Gerwig creative signature, which is shown through marketing and the amount of relation the audience could make between the characters. The storyline enlights the audience with unusual themes such as religion (Christianity). .ooking closely ahh the trailer, there is 1-2 locations shown, linking to the fact that it's an low budget and independent film.
