Tide analysis

Tide is a print based advert which was designed specifically for heavy - duty, machine cleaning. It was launched in 1946 by Procter and Gamble and became the brand leader in America. The advert also came out during the post war where everything started to develop for example technology developed rapidly as domestic machinery were being introduced. These certain products became desirable as they connoted the American dream. This advert is aimed mainly at women as they are seen responsible for the home, it can be said that it's more for middle class women how were more likely to be housewives back in the 1950's. The product is promoted to those women who spend most of their time at home cleaning or in other words performing their housewife duties. In addition, it gave a light of hope that women's time fulfilling their role would take them less the time they would have spent. Women were known for doing domestic labour which meant no washing machines, no dryers or hoovers. W

Life On Mars

Image
Life on Mars is a British television series which falls into many genres such as supernatural drama, crime and sci-fi. It can be pointed out that sci-fi is an unusual and unexpected genre to be combined with a crime drama. It was created by Matthew Graham, Tony Jordan and Ashley Pharoah. It consisted of stars like John Simm, Philip Glenister and Liz White etc. Life on Mars is a reference to David Bowie's song " Life on Mars?" which is played on Sams iPod when he gets hit by the car. Sam is known to the audience as a DCI which represents Detective Chief Inspector, however once he's been taken back to 1973 he's recognised as a detective inspector. His character comes across as a serious detective who is serious about his job. Life on Mars is set firstly in modern day Manchester which changes within roughly 8 mins into the series to 1973. This creates a confusion for both the audience and characters to whether he has died or actually travelled back in time. It

Luther & The Fall

Image
Luther & The Fall Comparing Luther episode 1, series 1 to The Fall episode 1, series 1, it is clear that they both share some similarities but also differ in many ways. In which one is the use of technical codes and many more. Luther starts off with what looks like the middle of an action based scene which automatically engages the viewers as it gets their attention in trying to figure out what the story line is. The protagonist is a black English male police investigator this is immediately identified as he is the main focus and the first to be seen. He can be described as an impulsive detective who is distressed by the dark side of humanity while he fulfils his role of detective by hunting down murderers. Looking closely at Luther alone, his character allows the audience to experience binary oppositions such as scenes that cover his role as detective, where he is conveyed as a tough character however once around his wife he becomes a softer and more emotional character.

Film Industry including Mainstreams & Independent Mainstream and Independent films have the same regulation of BBFC which stands for The British Board of Film Classification which is also a non governmental organisation, founded by the film industry in 1912. Looking at vertical gratification, it shows how the company maximises their income and how they own all the stages in which they need to market. It can be said that Black Panther is a mainstream film, so in other words a high budget film which is also shown through its trailer. Its brought to the attention that their has been huge costs on their set design and costumes as various scenes were filmed abroad as the picture shows. It can be clear that this is a mainstream film by how the characters are clearly defined, showing a clear distinction between the hero and the villain. Stereotypes can be used to portray this, which allows the audience to gain quick knowledge and understanding of who the characters are and thei

Newspaper analysis  We decided to call our newspaper 'The Generator' which supports our idea that we generate the latest news stories for people to be updated with what's happening around them. The Generator is a tabloid newspaper, which means it is less formal and more appealing to the eyes of younger audiences. It was decided that the masthead was going to be written in white as it makes it clearer to read, but also white refers to goodness or purity which reading the paper fulfils our readers minds with good news.  Our news stories were based on adverts linking to the town of Coulsdon but also includes stories like our main story " Beast from the East " which is related to a wide majority of the public the purpose of our main story was to highlight the major problems the snow had caused. This was why we wanted to make this our main story as it also informs the readers about transport. The headline " Beast from the East " is emphasised by ha
